With the New Year drawing near, the people of Daeluin prepared for the usual holiday festivities. Partying through the night, the people were unaware of the invetible danger. In the early hours of the New Year, lights filled the streets, and people continued to celebrate. But something strange appeared in the skies above. Burning as bright as the moon, it fell to the planet, coiling like a snake, and crashed somewhere in the Eastern Seas.
Soon after, several airships were dispatched to the area. Upon their return, one of the ships’ mages, Daedalus Grey, came before the Grand Council of Sein Amar with his findings.
He said this:
| Quote: |
”Good Lords and Ladies, I have much to tell you. Yesterday our ship passed over the Eastern Seas, and we saw within the ocean a crater of uncertain depth. Whatever formed it fell from a great height and was vast beyond any creature of our knowing. Our instruments detected a great source of heat to the west, and we pursued the signals all the way to Minya Amar. There, we found the floating isle of the World Tree before us, and something I can barely describe coiled among its branches.
It is a thing like a dragon, but burning white-hot like the sun. Its very skin is molten light, and its breath is pure heat. Even the World Tree cannot abide its temperature, and the bark seemed to be scalded where the wyrm’s coils have touched it. I fear that if we do nothing, the Tree may perish altogether." |
The Council considered his words carefully. Although the atheistic Sein Amarians held little stock in the Gods of the old world, they knew well the value of the Tree. They called upon the greatest minds in the land, searching for something that could dislodge the sun wyrm.
Finally, Raulkin “the Sproket” McFinnigan, a gnomish machinist, stepped forward with an idea:
| Quote: |
”I have devised a plan, my Lords and Ladies. If you recall, some years ago a terrible war was waged at the World Tree. Some Royal Engineers of Minya Amar devised a set of elemental rockets, many of which were launched in an attempt to damage the Tree. I think that these rockets can be of use to us once more. The sun wyrm is a spectral being, and the mages have noted that he changes his color often. We think that the color change is a result of the influences of the elements of Daeluin. The sun wyrm is used to living among only heat and light. If we were to fire rockets of the element corresponding to his color, we might be able to harm him. Conversely, rockets of any other color and element would only help the dragon!
I have created a device to search for the old rockets, many of which may still fly. Have the bravest adventurers come to my shop in Talistari and I will give them a Brass Compass capable of detecting old, buried rockets. These they can then take to the World Tree to combat or, if their hearts are wicked, help the sun wyrm." |
A sun wyrm has come from beyond the heavens and now threatens the World Tree! Heroes and adventurers from across the land are called to travel to Talistari and find Raulkin McFinnigan’s engineering shop located here . You'll need to find a special compass hidden within the shop, which is not always guarenteed to be found. The compass gives you a chance of finding old rockets when you post in any RP forum and re-energizing them.
The sun wyrm’s color changes depending on which element he is most susceptible to. Firing a rocket of the same color as the wyrm will harm him, and help dislodge him from the World Tree. Firing a rocket of any other color will instead strengthen the wyrm. Once you find your rockets, chose wisely! Some claim the World Tree is the spirit of Daeluin embodied, and the source of all life. Others say it is a lie, or worse, an illusion meant to deceive the people of Daeluin.
Whatever the outcome, there are sure to be great consequences for Daeluin.
Captured Sparks from the rockets may be spent from your inventory, by clicking on their name or the link in the description. Remember, trade in-s are scaled by amount of sparks. The more sparks you have, the better the reward you'll get.
Good luck, and remember to choose your side wisely!
